Master of Wine Tao Platon wins the 2019 Lallemand Bursary
The Institute of Masters of Wine (IMW) and Lallemand is pleased to announce Master of Wine student Tao Platón as the winner of the 2019 Lallemand bursary
The bursary, established in 2010, was open to students in the Institute’s Master of Wine study programme, who were requested to write a 1,000-word essay on the following topic set by Lallemand: How can the use of wine bacteria for malolactic fermentation shape the style and improve the quality of a wine?
Tao graduated in Oenology from the University of Valladolid. Head winemaker at Peninsula Vinicultores, he previously travelled a lot to make wines in various winegrowing regions around the globe, where he developed his passion to contribute to a more authentic and sustainable world of wine. He felt a great joy on hearing he won the Lallemand prize for he found great interest in studying malolactic fermentation to write his essay.
Supporter of the IMW for over 10 years, Lallemand have renewed their support to the IMW for another three years, as “both parties value shared knowledge, ability to transmit it, challenge to learn more and application of this knowledge in their work,” pointed out Ann Dumont, Communications Director for Lallemand Oenology.
