Lallemand Animal Nutrition: Probiotics linking animal and human nutrition
Brazil – From May 16th to 18th, 2016, UNICAMP (University of Campinas) hosted the International Workshop on Advances of Probiotics for Food and Veterinary Applications. The event was organized by the LLPP (Laboratory of Dairy Products, Probiotics and Prebiotics) of the FCA (Applied Science College) and by the LMQA (Food Quantitative Microbiology Laboratory) of FEA (Food Engineering College), both from UNICAMP.
Lucas Mari, Technical Support Manager of Lallemand Animal Nutrition South America, was a featured speaker at the event where animal and human probiotic research and applications met. Mr. Mari gave a presentation on the use of live yeast in ruminant nutrition. In his opinion, it was very interesting to get a research update on both the human and animal side: “We already know the focus that has been done on using probiotics in animal nutrition, documenting health and zootechnical benefits, but here we could see that their use on humans is well developed and is bound to become, in the near future, an important sector, especially as an alternative to the indiscriminate use of antibiotics”.
Lallemand congratulates the workshop organization and is looking forward to the second edition of this important event that shed light on a fascinating topic!
